CLASSES WE OFFER

ART CLASSES

Open to all abilities and all levels.

In this expressive art program, students discover art styles through the lives of famous artists as they express themselves interactively. Students learn through interactive slide show presentations and stories then create their own masterpieces emulating that artist’s style.

We incorporate the history of the artist’s life including any challenges which they overcame through their art. Classes are processed-based and developmentally appropriate.
Support staff are encouraged to join.

CLAY CLASSES

Open to all abilities and all levels.

This innovative program is led by an experienced artist and ceramicist, working with individuals to ignite their passion for creative expression through physical interaction with clay. Students create their own pieces that are then kiln fired, and glazed with colors of their choice.

Those attending come from all backgrounds, some with disabilities, others recovering from illness, or simply attending for the joy of working with the physical medium clay provides.
Support staff are encouraged to join.

Art with a purpose.

The ArtABILITY program, which sees over 500 participants a week, empowers students by tapping into their natural creative abilities and encouraging them to create their own masterpieces and channel their emotions and feelings through their artwork. We inspire people of all ages and all abilities to reach beyond their limitations to explore their own creativity, and promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in the arts.

The ArtABILITY class programs include art, clay & music classes. They are a series of classes that introduce students to the lives of famous artists and the challenges they overcame through their art. We strive to educate the community about the remarkable talents of people with differing abilities. The result is a collection of incredibly unique and expressive artworks where each piece tells a remarkably personal story of each artist.

About Gina Mars

Gina Mars has been a Long Island teacher for 30 years. She primarily works in clay creating whimsical sculptures deriving her inspiration from the natural world around us. This gives her creations a unique look and touch. She creates functional ware out of stoneware clay that can be used in everyday life. When she is not in her studio she teaches children and adults of all ages how to bring clay to life.

Her goal is to bring creativity and happiness to anyone willing to learn. Gina’s students have a wide range of talents, some are hand builders, others learn the potters wheel and some even learn Raku which is an ancient technique of firing ceramics to create crackles and iridescent colors. Gina is also known for her work with special needs students and the blind. If you can dream it, it can be a reality.
